Patellar dislocation is a common joint disease in small pets. Most medial patellar dislocations are related to abnormal skeletal muscles, such as internal transfer of quadriceps femoris, remote external rotation of the femoral bone, poor femoral spine, unstable knee rotation, and tibial deformation. Deformation of bones and abnormal muscles cause the patella to be unable to apply pressure to the trolley, which causes the trolley to fail to obtain normal depth. According to the degree of skeletal cases of patellar dislocation, it is divided into the following 4 levels:
1 level patellar is dislocated under external force, but after the external force disappears, the patellar returns to its normal position, and the joint flexion and extension are normal. The
2-grade femoral torsion deformation is slight, and the patella is dislocated when artificial external force or flexion of the knee joint, but it can only be restored to its normal position under the action of external force. The

3 grade patella is dislocated on the medial side most of the time and can only be manually reduced when the knee joint is extended. However, the patella will be dislocated again after the external force disappears. At this level, the quadriceps femoris dislocation is dislocated on the medial side, the knee joint supports tissue abnormalities, and the femur and tibia are deformed. The proximal platform of the tibial 4 grade has 80-90 degrees rotation, patellar dislocation cannot be reduced by external force, the trough becomes shallow or disappears, and the femoral tibia is usually more serious.
How to treat patellar dislocation
1. Seek medical treatment in a timely manner, insist on taking medicine
Patellar disease has a great impact on dogs. Dog owners without this disease must insist on preventing, and dogs with this disease must take medicine. Don’t expect your dog to get better by itself. Once you get sick, it will develop very quickly and it will be a matter of time before you get dislocation. As long as the dog has this disease, it does not have to undergo surgery. The medicine must be taken and must be taken seriously.
2. Try not to make the dog excited and avoid jumping
Some dog owners are more careful and find that taking medicine can relieve the condition earlier. So for such dogs, you must consider taking care of the patella and not let the dog get worse. For example, my friend’s dog’s patella is not very good. He often plays some games that require jumping with his dog, which increases the burden on the dog’s patella and leads to a 2.5-level disease course.

3. Supply more calcium to make your dog stronger
In daily life, we must pay attention to supplementing calcium to dogs. Calcium is of great significance to dogs. Calcium-deficient dogs are prone to bone diseases. Perhaps, you will definitely refute this when you see this. Many Teddy patellar disease are inherited and have little to do with calcium deficiency. But the editor needs to remind you to pay attention:
1. If your dog is calcium-deficient and it just carries the bone disease gene, it may attack earlier and the course of the disease worsens faster;
2. If your dog has problems with the patella, it will recover slowly.
4. Control your weight and don't be too fat
It is recommended not to give your dog too much snacks or rice. Among them, rice is rich in starch, which will make dogs gain weight. If the dog gains weight too quickly, it will compress the patella and cause the patella to be misaligned. Moreover, the fatter the dog is, the heavier the patella becomes, and the more dislocation is. We should insist on feeding dog food correctly so that the dog can grow up healthily.
5. Do not perform surgery blindly
It is not recommended to perform surgery on dogs. Now the cost of surgery is several thousand yuan per leg, and there are certain surgical risks. Some dogs have poor recovery after surgery. Although surgery is the only way to cure this disease, when the condition is mild, fine care and medication can control the condition and avoid worsening. Conservative treatment is also a good choice.
