According to British media talksport, two English clubs, Exeter City and Plymouth, have been hit by fires one after another recently. Exeter City’s game was helplessly postponed, and the Plymouth fire was officially confirmed as arson.

Exeter City Fire

talksport writes that they have been forced to postpone their League One match due to a fire at Exeter City Stadium. Fires broke out in many areas of the stadium and the stadium was damaged.

Club officials said: "Despite the tremendous efforts of club staff, volunteers and local businesses, we were unable to complete the extensive repair works required and implement critical safety checks to ensure all systems operate safely for fans and players."

The club explained that the fire damaged several "critical areas," including the main power supply and emergency backup generators.

Exeter released a statement on Wednesday announcing: "Exeter City Football Club can confirm that following discussions with the Safety Advisory Group, Saturday's match against Burton Albion has unfortunately been postponed."

Raising funds

Shortly after the fire at the stadium, the Exeter City Supporters Trust launched a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to help with repairs. Six days after the incident, Exeter fans and others in the football community have been generous with donations of more than £44,000.
