Operation data showed that SIA's cargo load in May increased by 4.2% year-on-year, cargo capacity increased by 2.9% year-on-year, and cargo load factor increased by 0.7 percentage points to 57.2%.
Singapore said: "As uncertainty in the global trade environment is expected to increase, freight demand was supported by early shipment activities in May."
Singapore and Scoot carried a total of 3.43 million passengers in May this year, an increase of 6.3% from May last year. As trade uncertainty prompted early shipments and demand for air cargo has risen, SIA's cargo carriage rose by 6.5% in May.
When SIA released its operating data for May after the market closed on Monday (June 16), it pointed out that the group's passenger kilometers (revenue passenger-km) increased by 3.1% year-on-year in May, and the 2.8% year-on-year growth rate of passenger capacity (available seat-km) was slower, and the passenger load rate rose by 0.3 percentage points to 86.4%.
