Purchase knowledge of cork flooring

The foot feels good, waterproof and fire-proof, thermal insulation, and is increasingly popular among consumers. Cork flooring has superior performance and is also expensive. So carefully selected is a must. Let’s take a look at how to buy cork floors:

1. Look at the origin:

Cork is a regional resource product that grows only in a few countries on the west coast of the Mediterranean Basin. Cork can still grow without these countries, but the effect of bark growth is very different, and it does not even grow bark. For example, cork grown in the Qinling Mountains in China can grow bark, but its thickness can only reach 1/3 of that in Portugal, or more than five centimeters. In particular, the elasticity and color of the bark are very different. After production into the floor, the gap in softness, comfort, silentness, waterproofing, thermal insulation, etc. will appear.

2. Look at the appearance:

See whether the surface of the cork floor is smooth, whether there are convex particles, whether the cork particles are uniform and neat, and whether the edges and tenons are regular. Cork is a pure natural product from nature. There are naturally some potholes on the surface after the floor is made, which does not affect normal use. However, due to poor raw materials and the potholes are too serious, some domestic products use artificial putty to fill the potholes. The density of putty materials is completely different from that of cork. After using it for a period of time, the putty will burst out and completely destroy the floor.

3. Smell the smell:

Use your nose to close to the surface of the floor. If it is a faint natural wood fragrance, it is a good environmentally friendly product. On the contrary, the one with a strong and pungent smell is that the unqualified paint and glue are used, which is harmful to the human body.

4. Look at the density board:

The medium density board of cork floor is very important. The density board of good floors is made of poplar and cypress, and no branches are used. Dead trees are used as the base material. They also need to undergo bark peeling and washing process. They are also highly dense. They use good and environmentally friendly tripolymer hydrogen ammonia mixed wood, and the density can also be seen from the cross section.

Cleaning of cork floor

1. If the floor is splashed with lamp oil or soy sauce, and long-term accumulation will cause the floor to crack, please wipe it off immediately. However, in this case, please do not use alkaline chemical reagents for cleaning. If cigarette butts fall on the floor, not only will the burning surface of the floor also may cause a fire, so please remove it quickly. If you accidentally scratch it by an oily pen or magic pen, please wipe it off with a rag dipped in a neutral wash solution. Do not use diluents.

2. Do not use a lot of water to wash: Like all laminated floors, when the floor needs to be cleaned, you can use a wrung-out damp mop to clean the floor. Using a lot of water to wash will cause the floor to expand and deform, shorten the service life of the floor. Over time, it will also affect the visual beauty.

3. Usually when the floor is not too dirty, the surface of the wet mop is cleaned. After the floor is dry, apply special cleaners and maintenance agents for maintenance. Generally, you can use a vacuum cleaner or a semi-dry rag to clean the cork floor.

Maintenance of cork floors

1. If you are leaving home and going out, please pay attention to check whether the doors, windows, faucets, etc. are closed properly to prevent rain or dripping water from soaking on the floor.

2. Do not place furniture on the floor within 24 hours after the floor is installed, and try to avoid people walking on the floor.

3. To prevent heat damage, remember to place the utensils containing hot water on the floor, otherwise it will easily burn the paint film on the floor surface. You should also be careful not to let the sun dry the floor for a long time. It is best to pull up the curtains, otherwise the paint film will dry and age after being exposed to the sun for a long time.

4. It is best not to bring sand into the room when using cork floors to avoid wear of the floor. Therefore, if any sand is brought into the room, it must be removed in time.

5. Generally speaking, cork flooring can be waxed once every six months. If wear occurs after several years of use, you can re-coat the wear area.
