Arm Holdings, a major British semiconductor design manufacturer, recently announced that it has successfully poached Rami Sinno, head of chips at Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Amazon, representing the company as a traditionally authorized chip architecture to independently develop a complete chip system.
Sinno has specially designed AI processors, "Trainium" and "Inferentia", in Amazon, strengthening Amazon's competitiveness in the field of large-scale AI computing. These two chips are regarded as key products that directly challenge the dominant position of Nvidia GPU. After Sino joined, the pre-projection will bring Arm rich in AI chip research and development experience, helping the company quickly promote the new chip business.
Arm CEO Rene Haas recently revealed that Arm will invest heavily in chips and chip modules and actively expand the chip design team. In addition to Sino, the company has also introduced Nicolas Dube, former head of system design at HPE (HPE), and Steve Halter, a experienced chip engineer with Intel and Qualcomm backgrounds. These layouts show that Arm hopes to impact the existing semiconductor structure and improve competitiveness and profitability through independent and complete chip solutions.
Currently, Arm architecture drives almost all smart phone chips around the world, and its penetration rate in the data center market continues to rise, and this strategic transformation will make it a strong challenger for large chip companies such as Nvidia and AMD. The market's expectations for Arm's future new products have also risen.
