China said on the 15th that after preliminary investigation, it was found that the US chip manufacturer NVIDIA (Nvidia) violated the anti-corruption law, and NVIDIA said on the 16th that they abide by all laws. This is the latest development in the fierce technological competition between Beijing and Washington.

NVIDIA said in a statement to AFP: "We abide by all laws on all parties." The statement added: "We will continue to work with all relevant government units to cooperate with them to evaluate the impact of export controls on the commercial market competition."

This artificial intelligence chip company based in California is trapped in a fierce competition between the United States and China in the field of key semiconductors.

Washington restricts NVIDIA from exporting its most advanced products to China, and confirmed last month that NVIDIA will pay 15% of sales revenue for specific artificial intelligence chips in China.

Beijing responded to this, expressing doubts about the national security of NVIDIA chips, and urged Chinese companies to turn to local semiconductor suppliers.

The China National Market Supervision and Administration Bureau conducted an investigation on NVIDIA in December last year. On the 15th, based on the preliminary investigation, it was determined that NVIDIA violated the anti-corruption law.

The statement did not provide details on NVIDIA's suspected inappropriate behavior and stated that further investigations would be conducted.

Before this, Beijing and Washington officials held trade talks that received attention in Madrid.

After discussion, the U.S. and China said they had reached a "framework" agreement to resolve the key disputes related to TikTok, and the agreement required the transfer of ownership of the Chinese short video platform in the United States to the United States.

Last week, U.S. and Chinese foreign ministers and defense ministers met in a conference call. Analysts pointed out that this may represent that U.S. President Trump and Chinese President Joe Jinping have taken a step towards the meeting.
